Ali Karbaschi was born in Isfahan, one of Iran’s oldest and most historic cities, renowned for its exemplary masterpieces of architecture and urban design. Growing up amid such architectural heritage profoundly influenced his decision to pursue architecture as a professional career.
He earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from the Islamic Azad University of Khorasgan in 2008.
After years of gaining extensive experience collaborating with various architectural consultancy firms, he founded Satrap Office in 2012.
Based in Isfahan, Satrap Office aims to provide a contemporary alternative to traditional Iranian architecture, specifically tailored to the climatic, economic, socio-political, and cultural contexts of each project. The practice’s portfolio ranges from single-family residences to large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use complexes, as well as urban master plans.
The core philosophy of the office is to delve into the specific “content” of each project, developing a unique conceptual framework that fosters a sense of authenticity, serenity, and spatial harmony.
